French nomenclature 1960 Renault 4CV

Hearing on J-M Jancovici climate change to # 39; 06/02/2013 Nationale- Assembly

For all their problems, quirks and peculiarities, there is just something about French cars that fascinates us We love the unusual and simplistic engineering, but we must admit that some of the names they gave their cars were less an interesting think the French have some of the most creative and deep models for their cars, but this is not always the case now don t get us wrong was some of their cars gave big names, but those who went to enormous success of the titles that were more designations the names we hadn t really thought about some of the names that we looked at this 1960 Renault 4CV that Harley505 found here on craigslist that the seller came to deceive call a C4V we were actually a little confused when we looked up and realized he was supposed to be 4CV, which happens to be very similar to the u ne of the most prolific French cars ever built Citroën 2CV us wonder how it happened that Renault and Citroën both cars offered in the late 1940 s with names in the same bland As usual, the answer is proved to be a simple enough to know what it is right after the break.
The Second World War left the world a very different spot Nations that were once rich were left in ruins Many countries sent all their spare resources to assist in the war effort, few resources make France was particularly affected and resources were left were needed to rebuild the country instead of having large amounts of iron and steel is the automotive production, the government has instituted a system that makes the car encouraged to build cars smaller and cheaper tax system charge depending on the output power, low-powered cars are very favorable for those of us here in the States, this tax is similar to the tax on gas guzzlers gas except that it applies to every car the CV both Renault and Citroen names means horses, which translates to little near horses that means the 2CV fell into the tax bracket of 2 horses and 4CV landed in Group 4 horses now 2 and 4 designation doesn t mean that these cars produce 2 or 4 horses to calculate that tax bracket of a car was placed in a formula was used looked displacement, power and many other factors to calculate how much a car should be imposed This Renault was powered by a 750cc four straight mounted to and back in 1960 the power was 20 hp more than the two extra cylinders and added power placed Renault in the top tax bracket.
Even with bland names like 2CV 4CV, both cars continued to be a great success in France and abroad, Renault was the first car of the French production to sell more than 1 million units and of course Citroën continued to build millions of 2CV This 4CV has some issues and they need to work, but it seems to be a great starting point there weren t many of these imported to the States, but given the number were built and sold worldwide to search for parts shouldn t be so hard After investing time and money, there should be one of the funniest and most enjoyable micro cars ever built, we believe that the additional fee was worth it, both in looks and handling services.
Back in the early 70s, one child at my high school conducted a 4CV the same color as the function today and it was not a well-liked car and made him mocked There was no other 4CV around the time I can remember, the only other Renaults were old Dauphines the end of 50 years and all were sitting in various construction sites of people and has been for years, I can think of three in my closest neighborhood we, the owners were our friends and they have offered not being run Dauphine me free, I was 14 at the time, and my father told me that I could not t have as you expect, I was a little steamed at him at the time, but it really made me a favor by not let me take her home.
Yeah, yeah, yeah the same old Renault BS stories And did you hear the one about the Prince of Darkness with Electrics Lucas on British Car In fact, the 4CV was released before the Dauphine and both were popular enough where I lived, but I never saw any for free on front lawns.
Josh, you're right, there is something fascinating about the French car 4CV It seems to be all there, even if the seller cry about SOLID BODY seems somewhat inaccurate given the visible rust on the lower extremities Unfortunately, this is not exactly a fun drive and is probably not quite cute enough to ride the wave micro current car, so the cost to just make an attractive driver may not justify the time and or required.

Flashing back to early 1971 and took a ride to school with a friend in a 4CV rowing through the reports have changed my life bought a R12 mark tl eccentric new in 1975 and has never looked back possessed of countless European small cars to and still love the looks, feel and handling Great memories I restore as much as time and PocketBook allow and encourage all to do so as it not all profit, live the history and enjoy every wacky car for what it is seems that everyone is involved in this hobby for the wrong reasons these days IMHO.
What caught my attention here was the gateway suiside how unique and I thought I'd share with you all thanks for the history lesson, just when you think you've seen them all out pops another Heck this time How do you say French Beep sound to signal HOPE you enjoy.
